When will all the other options on the App be able to work. Like the track, switches and accessory buttons on the bottom of the screen?
Thanks, Buddy

When the Pro version becomes available.
Whats the timeline for that?
There is no scheduled release date for the Pro version of the app.
Hi Barry,
Is there any update on the "Pro" version of the app for switch and acc control? I have been away from the trains for a while due to health issues and it seems that it has been over a year without any new news. I know if there is anyone with an inside scoop. You would be the guy! My kids are really looking forward to App control. For me the remote is still cool but I hope MTH understands the importance this technology has in relation to getting the "next generation" interested in a great hobby.
Thanks in advance!

Stay tuned - really!
Barry-
I have a short attention span. Should I keep refreshing this page every 5 minutes, or should I go distract myself for a few days and save my keyboard

Do I really have to answer that?
Barry,
Do I really have to answer that?
Of course not! But I bet that I'm not the only one on the forum that wishes you could
LOL!

That was pretty close to accurate.
As long as Rich let the cat out of the bag, I'll confirm that the beta test started yesterday afternoon.

The app is still on track to come out at the end of the month?
Well, since the end of the month is next week, probably not but you can dream

I am not aware of a "Pro Version" of the DCS App. The MTH web site mentions 3 versions:
Also, at 13m30sec of the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiJTtW3j-tI , it is mentioned that the "PREMIUM version" will do everything that the handheld is doing.
Could anybody clarify if there are really a PREMIUM version and a PRO version, or if we are talking about the same thing ?
Semantics

Great News ! They will both come out at the same date then :-) ! Thanks !

Kindly note that my post was more than 13 months ago, before MTH settled on the "Premium" designation.

All clear, all good. I was just not aware of the evolution of the name from "Pro" to "Premium". Thanks !

Yes?
Joe,
To what post of mine are you referring?
Six days to go before MTH either releases the app or changes the release date on the website!
I assume Barry will give us a quick tutorial, once it's released, on how to get it working...(hint).
I assume we will purchase the new app. Then, we will need to download a TIU update and install that. I don't know about a WIU firmware update, but expect that too. Also, usually a TIU update comes with new remote code to install to keep everything in sync.

Are there any features coming in the Premium app that the handheld cannot do? For one, I know naming and labeling things in the Standard app is done with an onscreen keyboard.
Well if the PRO-App will do everything that the handheld can do; then we only need a new Book for the unstated features like making the coffee and the on-line ordering of pizza or doughnuts.
MTH isn't all that quick to update shipping dates that have passed. They think we're smart enough to figure out that it will arrive sometime.
Is this coming from China?
Gerry
There is definitely a TIU upgrade required for the Premium app. There will be new DCS Remote code, as well, for those who use the DCS Remote.
AFAIK, there will not be a WIU firmware upgrade. However, the Premium app, like the current Standard app, requires the WIU 1.1 firmware which has been available on MTH's Protosound2.com web site for quite some time.
Alan,
then we only need a new Book for the unstated features like making the coffee and the on-line ordering of pizza or doughnuts.
You may want to re-think that. The app and the remote are very different in how they do things.
Regardless, I'l have you covered!
I only care about consisting and super TIU mode

Yes, we know, it's all about you Matt.
That said, for all the equipment you bought, you deserve to get what you want!

The first release of DCS could turn on the coffee maker. Its in Rich's DCS video.

I could do that with an Accessory Interface Unit and a high voltage relay. However, the current app won't do that.
Darn! What good is an app that won't turn on a coffee maker? Has to do more than run trains.
We have the app and it is very cool. MTH will have it to everyone shortly as Barry stated. Bob, actually if you hooked your coffee maker to the correct relay to be actuated by your AIU, you could hook your coffee maker up.
Not with the app I have. If I'm thirsty & drowsy, I have to pull out the trusty remote.

Our grandsons were running the trains last night. One likes the phone app.
He forgot why he can't run several engines at once in a train. He asked again so nicely that I had to take the time to explain it all over again.
He asked me when will I get that fixed? He thinks I can fix anything!

Marty, This is kind of mean, I think you might be rubbing it in a little with the "look what I have" comment. Yet another way to look at this is while you get to enjoy it now, your (and Barry's) Saturday may be filled with responding to tons of questions on the forum.
All kidding aside, this is a good sign. I don't foresee anymore delays to be announced on Friday and a big Thank You to the beta testers who will be a massive benefit to everyone else when the questions start rolling in.

On behalf of myself, Marty, and the rest of us who toil into the nights and through the weekends so that you and others may more fully enjoy your trains...
...I will be freakin' thrilled when this thing finally gets done!
H1000: I don't hear the fat lady singing. With any software, it is always reasonable to expect that beta testers will find something. Remember, every layout is electronically different, so who know what will surface.

I'm biting my tongue while typing this, but for once I'm optimistic! Unless Barry or Marty's trains explode while operating with the beta app, I think we'll have we'll have a whole lot of happy railroaders on Saturday.
(Please MTH don't make me eat these words, and don't let any trains explode either!)
