Got some red Lo-V's for my b'day (May 30th), and the second I opened them I ran to the basement to run them on the layout. Once I put all the cars on the track, I noticed that the non-powered cars' couplers were a little higher than the engine's coupler. In seeing this, I noticed that the wheels on either ends of the non-powered cars were a little elevated. I didn't know why, and assumed the train would still run fine. After 2 months of running it, it has barely ever made a full lap around the layout without derailing itself! This is because the wheels for the non-powered cars aren't on the track, so when they enter a turn, they stay straight rather than turn, causing a derailment. I can't return them, because along with the derailment, the couplers would detach themselves whenever they saw fit, so I hot glued the bottom pin of the couplers so they couldn't undo themselves. It worked, but the derailment is still happening (obviously), and I don't know what to do!
I opened up the cars, and put 2 C batteries - one on either end of each non-powered car - to weigh the wheels down. It didn't work!
I really hope someone has a solution to this. The subway is just drop dead gorgeous, but runs like an old lady (no offense to any elders out there). Please help!
