Uncataloged Rail King O Gauge Boxcar with Power Meters Announced
May 12, 2022 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has announced an exclusive RailKing O Gauge Boxcar with Power Meters in unique Long Island Lighting livery for exclusive distribution by M.T.H. Authorized Retailer Nassau Trains. The cars are slated to arrive in September 2022 and are only available directly from Nassau Hobbies. Item No. 30-71127 Long Island Lighting Box Car w/Power Meter Item No. 30-71128 Long Island Lighting Box Car w/Power Meter ABOUT THE BOXCAR w/POWER METER Monitor your track power with this boxcar and its operating power meter. The back-lit meter will sense your AC track voltage, providing a great way to determine track voltage, bad track connections, and dirty track sections. The car body is based on the 40’ 1930s steel boxcar so familiar to model railroaders. Wood box cars, which were built into the World War I era, and early steel cars were largely non-standardized, with details varying from railroad to railroad. The move toward standardization began with the American Railway Association (ARA) designs of 1923 and 1932. It culminated in the 1937 AAR boxcar, which was adopted by railroads from coast to coast and built in the tens of thousands. (The AAR (American Association of Railroads) was and still is the successor to the ARA.) High-quality, traditionally sized RailKing Freight Cars provide detailed bodies and colorful paint schemes for the O Gauge railroader.
