The Rail King Mohawk engine was the first RK MTH engine produced. The engine had the American Flyer type smoke system, which had a gear conected to axle. This gear mechanism was connected to a piston in smoke chamber , which gave 1 puff of smoke per revolution. This smoke unit was used on the first Mohawk, THe Blue Goose & the RK N&W "J". They then changed to the fan unit in later models. The reason I know that was I bought the RK Mohawk & the RK N&W J and they had the American Flyer smoke unit, I was suprised when I seen that unit in the loco's as Lionel owned the rights for AF.
