I recently changed out all my MTH loco's to BCR's. Can I use the rechargeable MTH batteries (fully charged) in my K-Line and Lionel loco's? I am assuming I can, but then 'what do I know"???
I figure when the MTH batteries are fully charged they are no different than a 9V alkaline battery...and when they start to run down just take them out and recharge them.

All you say is correct. If they are 9 volts I see no reason why they would not work especially if you are using them in TMCC since the battery's are only used when track power goes down.
Some (NiCad) rechargeable self discharge so even if you do not use them they will need recharging every month or so. Don
Unless you are running conventional or have some troublesome switches/dead areas the batteries are more of a pain than they are worth

Since you went with the BCR's in the MTH, why not get them for the Lionel as well? You can add their optional charger to charge the Lionel batteries.
I have this "pile" of MTH rechargeable batteries...I figure I would be ahead to recharge them when needed rather than replace a 9V alkaline. BCR's are expensive and my understanding is that a battery is not that critical to TMCC as it is to the MTH PS1 and PS2 system. I run mostly in conventional mode...as long as I have bell, whistle, smoke, and engine sounds I'm happy.
I prefer not to have to open up locomotives for no reason. Those rechargeable batteries will self-discharge after a few months, so you're setting yourself up for a lot of battery changes.
Whatever floats your boat, most of my TMCC/Legacy stuff doesn't have batteries anyway.

I am a command only railroad and do not use any in my non MTH locomotives.
I had a couple of batteries in some TMCC stuff, but I'm taking them out as they're only a liability IMO for command only operation.
You can get an optional charger for the BCR for Lionel, but then you are into the project about $50 or more just to have a battery.
I see the "light"! MTH will have/has BCR's, TMCC will run command, conventional (nuff said).
