Sometime ago I purchased a Lionel prewar 153 engine. At the time I knew it did not have the correct moter that I call the mystery motor. I replaced the mystery motor with the correct motor and now I am trying to identify the mystery motor. I can find no name plate or manufacturer's name on it. The wheels are marked Model Engineering Works. I am familiar with Model Engineering Works but I am guessing they only made the wheels. If they also made replacement motors I am not aware of it. If you look closely you will see a prewar Lionel reversing unit is mounted in the motor.
I have gone through all of my reference books and cannot find this motor. If anyone could enlighten me I would really appreciate it.
