If you are not dead set on the Lionel version, the MTH Premier version lists O36 as the minimum. 

I know but Lionel to me is a more realistic and has more functions. They are more pricey though.

Does anyone out there have a Genset that they have run on a 036 curve. I have been told it might work but I don't want to spend that kind of money and it doesn't.

Can you run a MTH 3GS21B Genset on a Legacy System or just conventional transformer?

Ran a 072 engine on a track that had 060 curves, derailed every time they the curve, laws of physics I guess , I'll ask Dr Leonard Hofstadter..... LOL

Legacy will not operate an MTH lpcomotive.

What about changing your curves to o-48, is that an option for you?

Fastrack is already down and landscaped also my layout needs the 036 track because of room.

Checking on the internet and there is a way of wiring the DCS to my 990 legacy control but hey run independently. Still checking. Might just need to stay with my Legacy. It works great! I really want the Genset though!!! Thanks for your input!

 Yes, you can add MTH 's dcs system to your layout and run it with that.

Another option would be adding a legacy powemaster which would allow you to run it "conventionally" with the legacy remote.

Conventionally meaning speed control and direction changes are done by varying the voltage with the legacy handheld just like you would with a basic transformer.

The DCS system would probably be the way to go to get full function of all the features that MTH has to offer.

Having Legacy and DCS will allow you more choices of future locos from either brand.

Thanks for your input! I am going with both. Easy to wiring and programming. Just need to buy MTH  DCS control.
