Need help disassembling Lionel PFE Woodside Reefer

As I recall, those bodies just slip on, you spread the sides slightly and they'll lift off.

 I’ll give that a try.

I didn’t want to start prying on the car body until I was sure that was the way to remove the car body.

Problem Solved!!

The roof comes off and exposes the two disks that cover the two screw for mounting the truck

That is the former K-Line tool, it was designed like that because they offered their cars with various "hanging" product you could install.

The roof came off purely by accident when I was trying to slide the car body off the frame, as mentioned above.

The ice bunkers were an interesting detail.

I've had a few exciting moments with many items that I didn't realize would easily separate at an odd location. 

That Ice bunker is a nice detail if you leave a car with the hatches open or the roof off. IIRC the K-Line cars had bags of "Ice" to place in there.
