Dear Lionel - please consider this feature in your next upgrade.  I run 6 to 8 trains at the same time.  Several of them are individual engines and several are multiple unit consists.

Because of space limitations on the layout, I have to be very quick about cycling through starting and getting trains up to speed - cycling through them in order on the track quickly to avoid losing spacing or crashing.  I don't mind terribly doing so  one time per operating session but when the inevitable derail, or uncoupling, or engine stall happens, you end up having to do that a couple times a session.

I would like a feature where you could get all consists and engines you are actively running to listen to one speed from one ID.  Then you could switch over to your train and engine IDs individually to operate after they are all in motion.

Cab 2 has a record/playback capability. I have never used it. You supposedly can record what you do on the Cab 2. How to record, playback, erase is listed under RECORD in the table contents of the Legacy user manual, and in the Ver 1.52 manual I have, Record info is on Page 44.

Again, I don't know it this will accomplish what you want, as I don't know if RECORD records everything you do - change engine numbers, speed control.

Downside is that every time you change what engines are on the Mainline, you would have to re-Record to match you engine numbers.

Try this.  Create train #1 including all the engines you want to control.  They will all respond to the train #1 even though they are separate.  Program the engines you want to run together as  train #2. They will be programmed in both train 1 and 2.    You can toggle between controlling all engines, train 1, individual engines, engine ID, and engines run together as  train 2.
