This is the G that heads the new 6-30171 GG1 Freight Set. My first traditional sized Lionel G with 'can' motors. It has traction tires and somewhat weak Magnetraction, mostly present on the tired wheels. Also a decent horn and bell and "Conventional" Railsounds. I find it somewhat satisfying that there are Postwar 2332 mold marks on the inside of the body.
The freight cars are interesting and well done: Altoona Works Generator Car with light and pole; PRR die cast flat with REA trailers, Philly Quartz single dome tanker and a nice, heavy PRR porthole caboose.
The set is ready to run with an oval of Fasttrack and an 80W transformer. Not bad for $447 shipped.
