Hello all
1936 the New Haven Railroad embraced the diesel locomotive by ordering 10 DEY-2 from General Electric with 660 HP engines by Cooper Bessemer . Limited to yard use with 20 mph top end.
Scratch built O scale brass model running with outside third rail pulling Helium cars by Hawk 1938-42.
From the less than stylish lines of the GE loco it's easy to see why this was not a popular engine to model.

Retro-cool perhaps but, you're right, she ain't no looker!
I think it would make a fine subject for a mass-produced O gauge model but, of course, it will never happen. The effort that people were willing to put into building a model of whatever prototype they chose is impressive. In my opinion, it's a historic New Haven locomotive. The first ten units went into service in New Haven, Boston, and Providence. Later, all went to New Haven, where the last ones remained until 1953.

I think it’s a cool vintage O scale loco, Third rail pick up et al. The Helium cars are robust looking as well. Of course any O scale oddity fits the bill. I find these quite desirable. I really think the reverse lever is clever! Thx for the video link.
