Iam running Tmcc Atlas engines now with the Cab 1 remote.....if I were to upgrade to the Legacy system(just the remote ).. What differences would I see ? Just trying to find out if it's worth the change.Iam sure this has come up more than once ..lol.Thanks !

Legacy will enable you to run both TMCC and Legacy engines plus conventional.
Easy peasie!
Tinplate Art,
That is definitely true if he has the Powermaster to go with the Legacy Base.

You would not see any difference in your Atlas TMCC Engines with the 990. They operate the same way with both remotes.
Plus you get the graphic display on the remote and the ability to add all the new lcs control software.
Regarding loco performance, I never really saw any noticeable improvement in running TMCC locos with the Legacy system vs the CAB-1 setup.
The improvements for me were:
Much better reception range
definitive indent notches in the throttle wheel
sonic and visual feedback when a command is entered on the keypad
The cab-1 always had poor reception (about 15 ft). The throttle wheel was easily bumped since it spun freely and I was never sure if a button press was actually being received.
Improvements in operation came with some of the Odyssey I locomotives, running them with real TMCC commands gives you smoother running.
graz,
I also do believe it depends on the engine, the new Legacy Shay runs smooth as glass on my Fastrack Christmas layout, in fact no need to even use the traction rubber bands for the wheels, when we had the Game room/Office layout up the TMCC engines did not really impress me, some were a little jerky and signal loss was noted here and there over the layout that DCS ran with all 10's. The legacy engines run perfectly smooth now, I see lots of quality differences in the actual run performance of the Legacy engines. Along with the FT CC switches it was the main reason I finally made the investment into Lionel Legacy, got to admit it took Lionel a while to get the bugs worked out of the system, glad I waited as I did to purchase.

I don't have any complaints about any Legacy stuff, it runs in Legacy mode and as you say, great speed control.
Legacy locos run great with the legacy remote and i've never run them with the cab-1
Well it sounds like buying the legacy controll system to run my atlas Tmcc engines is a no- go...no benifits. thanks for your info !!
