This arrived last week and its great...I just need help on making a minor repair then I will take some pics.  The front roof panel that covers controls was loose in the box because the two small magnets came unglued and pulled out with the panel.  Easy fix but I just want to use the proper glue.  I have some 3M super glue that's safe for plastics and metal...but not safe for polystyrene foam.  Should I try this or something else?  Any advice is appreciated.

I love the way you guys nitpick all this stuff.  One guy posts saying how much he adores his new toy train piece, then his glee is smashed like a bottle of MD2020 on the rocks at Oak Street beach within minutes.  Priceless.  Pretty stupid error.  Shame on that toy train maker.  But it makes for good entertainment.

For a locomotive that carries a retail price of $500 I don't think it's too much to ask to get the details right. It's actually unfathomable when you consider all of the resources that are available to get pictures for a prototype, like the internet and books from various railroad historical societies. At that price for a plastic-shelled diesel the paint, stencils and markings should be as close to spot on as possible.

Placing a "5" where there should be an "S" is inexcusable. It just goes to show that the factories who produce this stuff are in control of the finished product, not Lionel in this case.

I've seen some incorrect paint jobs on MTH locos as well. Atlas seems to be the best and most consistent when it comes to getting the details correct.

All that being said, I have never returned a new locomotive or sold one because of this. The errors on some of the engines that I have are relatively minor, just like the GP9 photographed in this thread.
