On Saturday and Sunday, May 11th and 12th in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of Grand Central Terminal Metro-North will host a festival of trains weekend. Plans are to have many rail cars both privately owned and Metro-North's own equipment on display and open for inspection like they had there last May in conjunction with Amtrak as part of National Train Day. I believe that May 12th will also be Amtrak's National Train Day as well in Philadelphia, Washington D. C., Chicago, and Los Angeles. More information from Metro-North to follow as we get closer to May.

To follow up on the above post. Metro-North has been contacting owners of railroad passengers cars and looking for cars that ever operated on long distance route trains to and from Grand Central Terminal from the time the terminal opened in 1912 though the 1960s. It is hoped that they can fill at least 4 tracks at 2 platforms with these cars as well as there own cars that operate in daily service today. There will be other events throughout the year. Check the New York State MTA website for more information.
