I am considering an operating car that unloads milk cans. Do they
1) Work well. Meaning I have am using RealTrax On a carpet.
2) Anyone using them with unmodified RealTrax?
3) If not, do I need a specific vintage tubular section?
Thank you.

Marty,
Every one that I have had a chance to view in operation, functioned the same as their postwar cousins.

Folks
I found a lot of the answers from a few yrs ago. I would love any more input. Thx
New cars appear smooth! But I don't own one. On old PW style remote operated cars you can use transition tracks, and add old operating tracks like RCS, UCS, or 0-27s #1019. My milk cars used a sliding shoe, to be parked on access/uncouple tracks. Some accessory cars can be triggered at the center under the car, by the electromagnetic un-coupler track & a #90. With a little thought and car inspection, you should be able to tell what your looking at quickly.
Buying used and old, you may come across cars wired right to rollers, and controlled with whistle/bell buttons, using whistle/bell relays. (used with no-whistle/bell tenders).
I run one from the fifties and another that was made a few years ago. Once you get the voltage correct they work fine. Both have accessory shoe and therefore need a remote "uncouple unload" track.

I tried to use a Lionel Milk Car with RealTrax a few years ago with Christmas layout. The problem is the Platform doesn't fit. The only way that I know to make it work with out making modifications is to buy a 30-9063 Platform made by MTH. There's one on eBay for $30.
