I'm trying to see if there are a variety or a few different road numbers of Norfolk Southern silver coal hoppers. Does anybody make these in traditional Lionel scale or MTH Railking? I've searched but only came up with one RK (30-7510) and the 2-Pack Lionel with the rotating couplers (I think). If you think that "scale" versions wouldnt be that much different, are there many of them?
Thanks,
Mike

There's NS coalporters in this month's MTH uncatalogued offerings. 14 different road numbers are offered (2 6 packs and 2 individual cars).
Both MTH and Lionel have run coalporters in substantial numbers in the past as well.
I'm sure 3 and 4 bay hoppers have also been done. MTH has a tendency to run both 6 packs and individual cars in the same catalog, so there should be lots of road numbers out there.
Thank you. How do I find them, any idea? Even the uncatalogued items, MTH website?
Thanks

This extensive 215-page four color guide for operating the MTH Digital Command System, or DCS includes 64 charts and illustrations, 14 more than the original edition, all intended to educate the reader on the basic and advanced features and functions of DCS. Also available for download from the M.T.H. online store for $12.95, the information provided in this book is updated frequently by the author. Barry also lends his expertise on the OGR forum, providing detailed instructions, update information, and open discussions to answer any questions or concerns.
Reviewed by Jim Barrett in OGR's January 2010 issue, the original edition was hailed as an "indispensable tool" that "should be in the hands of every command control operator". The book is also a valuable reference for both the experienced DCS operator, as well as those looking to add DCS for the first time to a new or existing layout. The uncomplicated language used in this book allows anyone to easily understand and operate this command system, regardless of their experience level. Even the most expert DCS operators will find useful information throughout this companion book. Since each section of the book inherently builds on the previous section, the reader has the choice of starting from the beginning and working their way through the entire book, or jumping to a particular section of interest. The entire OGR review can be found by clicking HERE.
The 2nd Edition of The DCS O Gauge Companion includes 43 additional pages, or nearly 20% more information than the original edition. In addition to numerous additions to existing subjects, including M.T.H.'s new Rev. L TIU and additional ways to work with switch tracks and accessories, the book also includes two completely new sections.
Chapter 1 provides an introduction to DCS. Chapter 2 discusses DCS as an operating system for your trains. Chapter 3 leads the reader through DCS implementation for a new or existing layout. Chapter 4 discusses accessory and switch track wiring and control. Chapter 5 addresses more than a dozen DCS advanced features and functions, including Z4K tracks, ALL engine operations, TIU power, locomotive lashups, trolleys and subways, routes. scenes, and record/playback. Chapter 6 discusses integrating DCS with TMCC and Legacy in the same layout. Chapter 7 discusses operating conventional engines together with DCS. Chapter 8 leads the reader through upgrading DCS software and PS2 engine sound files. Chapter 9 provides an extensive array of ways to troubleshoot problem situations that may occur. Chapter 10 is a new addendum that discusses using the DCS Commander to operate HO PS3 engines. Chapter 11 is a new addendum that discusses using the DCS Remote Commander. Appendices provide an additional variety of technical information.
