Hello, Have a question about Lionel o scale legacy diesel Locomotives. The ad for these say they have operating marker lights? Not seeing them. Am I missing something? I have front and rear head lights , number board lights, ditch lights, and on 1 of mine, lights under the crew cabin lights. No lit up marker lights on front and rear. Any help would be appreciated

Let me be the first to suggest you specify the exact Lionel product number.
Oops sorry. Lionel item # is 6-81154. Union Pacific legacy es44ac
You have been hoodwinked by the miracle of cut-n-paste at Lionel. Here's two different shots from videos of the engine in operation, no markers in sight. Also, if you look at the parts breakdown, the lighting boards only have LED's for the number boards and headlights. AAMOF, I don't see any place for markers on this model.

That’s what I thought. This model does however have what I call the ditch lights. The movement lights under the cab that go off after 24 speed steps. Those are not listed in the ad for it but are there on mine. Shouldn’t be surprised, I have a Lionel dummy engine with no power but the label says it is powered. Thank you for your assistance.

Ground lights are the proper term for the lights you mention. The SD70ACes have them too. It's an awesome feature.
The prototype does not have “marker lights”, actually called class lights. By the 1990’s most railroads had done away with them because of changes in the way trains were controlled. As older locomotives were repainted the lights were removed and plated over. The red tail lights, marker lights, on the caboose were replaced by FRED.
Weaver E8, and Alco C630. These are bi-directional lights green/red. Click on the underlined phrase to access a wiring diagram, connected to older EOB control boards. Most likely are not proto-typical, I really don't care.
Two lead, LED's, reverse the polarity, for green/red change. At the time, TAS (Train America Studio) boards, where the power connection for a smoke unit was not used for a smoke generator, could be used with different programming for the marker lights.
I just find it odd that Lionel lists in almost all their modern diesel legacy locos that they have marker lights. Not sure why they would do that. Seems like a case for false advertising. Don’t really want them but doesn’t seem right that they would put it in their ads. Oh well life goes on.

It is more likely that this is just “copy &paste” situation rather than an attempt to mislead you.
