i'm completely redesigning my layout to depict the Altland System railroad in the year 2030 by that year both passenger and freight trains travel on a 500mph maglev system
the thing is how would i design this system
how would i design the track and trains seeing i have to scratchbuild EVERYTHING
and how would i control the speed and direction of the trains
also making the trains travel 500 scale mph

How to design.....just like the real thing. It is basic electricity.
Yes you would have to scratchbuild everything.
Speed and direction.....once again, just like the real thing.
Also consider stopping the trains from 500 scale mph. Doing the math shows this model moving 15 feet in one second.

Maybe you could 3D print an engine shell and cars? Old school way might be to sculpt it out of a soft wood?

I love the idea. Although I am sure in 14 short years there will also be room for conventional trains that for some reason need a center rail, as well as steam heritage loco's! In addition to the monumental task of doing all yourself from scratch, the physical space to make it look realistic you would need a huge physical space. Otherwise you will be doing dizzyingc ccircles in a tiny space.
winding the coils, and getting them just right would take a lot of time ,
Conventional rail is much more practical and still plenty fast ...
I believe this uses "MagneTraction" and actual steel rails to hold the curves at speed.
