Pat, they are beautiful.

We have secured a small quantity of extra sets (it was sold out prior) and have updated our website.  If you did not get to pre-order a set, now is your chance! They are being sold on a first-come, first-served basis until the extra sets are sold out! These sets are entering production soon and the order has been closed with Atlas O, so once these extra sets are sold out, there is no increasing of the quantity possible.

Any word on these coming in?

According to Atlas O at the end of last October, this set and our Black Bonnet Santa Fe set were scheduled to enter production last November or early December. If that stayed true, then they should be here this spring pending any unknown delays they have not mentioned to us. Probably March/April/May time frame.

Unfortunately, we believed these cars would enter production last year in late February or early March after the production numbers were finalized, but that did not happen as expected for whatever unknown reason.

Are the passenger cars and engine the correct "bando" (B & O) blue or royal blue?

These cars will be the regular B&O blue that MTH has been using on their passenger cars and locomotives.

There are no add-ons planned at this time beyond the four matching R50B express reefers we announced last year. The prototype train sets were only five cars long with the rebuilt streamlined heavyweights. Later on, a regular blue/grey B&O heavyweight RPO was added ahead of the combine car making for a total of six cars. MTH has made this RPO car several times, so any of those could be added to the train consist.

There is a possibility a passenger car add-on could be done in the future for this set, but nothing is planned currently.

MTH used both shades of blue in the past.

The B&O RPO I mentioned is a heavyweight RPO, not a streamlined RPO. Any of the following is what I was referring to previously:

And yes, the RPOs are in the standard B&O passenger scheme instead of the Cincinnatian scheme with silver lettering and stripes. That's how it was done in real life.

These would be the darker bando blue color instead of the royal blue color like on the Columbian cars. They will match the blue used on our custom Dreyfuss locomotive, the custom B&O Mikado, and the custom B&O Pacific we did a few years ago.

So what color are the new Atlas Cincinnatian passenger cars?  Does anybody know the MTH production number for the loco?  Is it a shrouded P7d President?

As stated, the cars will be the dark bando blue, grey center stripe, and black roof. Thin stripes and lettering will be silver. The engine we made for these cars was a Premier Dreyfuss Hudson locomotive wearing the B&O Cincinnatian paint scheme without a nose fin. The only streamlined P7ds made have been from 3rd Rail and Weaver and were regular run pieces. We know the B&O did not have streamlined Hudson locomotives, but this engine has very similar lines to the streamlined P7ds which is why we chose it four our custom run.

There is a picture of the engine on our website at the following link. It should be the same color blue as that on the cars. The engine has been long sold out.
