I wanted to shout out to 2 of our forum sponsors for running some special runs to help fill out our Pere Marquette rosters.

Mr Muffins is doing a special run Pere Marquette 2-8-2 from the new Lionel catalog - get your orders in to make sure it gets made.

Pats Trains is doing a special run 7 car Premier Pere Marquette passenger set.  This will look great behind the Muffins mikado.

Take a look!

I’m really hoping that Mr. Muffins PM mikado gets done with the large tender as shown in the picture. I haven’t seen clarification on this. I’m a bit doubtful because there is nothing in the catalog using that tender so I don’t think Lionel is going to dig out the tooling for it to run 40 pieces.

Would like to get the tender clarified before I commit to a preorder.

Just saw the announcement from Pats and those cars are very tempting and not a bad price. Anyone have photos of how the Atlas made heavyweight cars look?

This run of Atlas is the former MTH Heavyweights.

I’m aware. What I haven’t seen are recent (last 5-7 years) production runs of these cars by MTH or Atlas. I’m curious how the detail has improved since these cars were first introduced in the 90s. I know MTH did a fair amount to update much of their older passenger car tooling but I haven’t personally seen any of the heavyweight cars.

Thanks Greg! That’s what I was after. Looks like MTH made some good cosmetic improvements since these were first introduced. I think I’m going to have to order the cars; $120 a piece isn’t bad and this looks like it will be a very unique set.

I’ll have to see the verdict on Mr. Muffins PM mikado and C&O mountain before I order either of them.

Nice to see Atlas (I guess late MTH) also put Kadee mounting holes on the Heavyweight cars, too. Even Lionel hasn't done that on their ancient circa '97 HW's.

I probably won't get the Mikado (since it technically should be a Light Mike and not a Heavy), BUT those heavyweights would look great behind the 1225 I have on order...

So Steve must’ve gotten a bunch of sudden orders. I inquired a few weeks ago and he said the preorders were nowhere close to reaching the minimum and it likely would get cancelled. Did the situation change then? I’m also curious if Lionel will be able to do the proper tender. I’d hate to pre-order it, the model becomes a go but the details get compromised, and we get stuck with an engine that falls short of expectations.
