Just an FYI,

Browsing though the Shack, I found a nice 12v 3A transformer.

12.6V CT 3.0A Chassis-Mount Transformer with Leads 273-1511  for $11.99

I figured that 3 amps was plenty for my micro-pizza layout, so I decided to install it under one of the buildings.  Now there is just a power cord that I plug in the wall.  It provides 12v for the 14V lights in the buildings and the switcher with smoke unit on. 12 volts is just right for the K-Line switcher and for a Beep I tried.

I thought I'd share.  This might be an easy way to power a small layout!... correction: VERY SMALL LAYOUT

To make the layout more portable, I attached most of the items to the layout so it's easier to just pickup and carry.  Buildings, cars, telephone poles are all attached.  I took the layout to our club Open House on Saturday.  2 minute setup.

Nick,

Your article and cover looked great in print!

The same transformer in a small box would work for your layout too if you wanted an easy inexpensive way to power it.  The Plymouth Switcher works just right at 12V.

I was thinking about hanging the layout on a wall, with Dale's magic magnetic track!
