Building the Riverdale, Pittsburgh, & Western 10x11.5+ Layout (Updated 2/12/25: Starting Phase 2)

Everything looks great. Can you tell me who makes the station house? I have an area on my upper level that it might fit on. If you can give me the footprint I'd appreciate it.

Justin, the little station and whole scene came out great!  Your layout for the town sounds like a good plan.  That PMcK&Y boxcar looks really good.  I hope you are successful finding the hoppers.

@RSJB18 Its the Ameritowne Flag Stop Station kit. Its only 3in x 4.5in, which is with the platform underneath. You could easily use it without platform if you made your own too.

I do have a fun update I'm officially starting Phase 2, which is going to be the upper city level. I briefly mentioned this in my last update, but started making more progress. One of the big areas I've wanted to get started on is the tunnel portals. Its been weird just having an open end. I got some free time and decided to mock it all up. I was really struggling with how to build it and then I realized I still have a lot of pink foam left over, and here we are!

The lower tunnel portal is going to be canted to add some depth. The upper sits a little high, but it will have tobe so it clears the lower track and gives it clearance for my Amtrak Superliners.

Once I get the foam glued together, I'm going to add scenery to make it look like the ground is sloping down from the city to the tunnel portal.

A question for everyone. Is there an additional maker of city building kits? I have 2 Ameritowne buildings, and I have room for 2 more on the upper level and atleast 2 more on the lower level. I was debating on getting some Woodland Scenics buildings, but wouldn't mind trying my hand at building my own.

Once sceniced the two tunnel portals should work out okay.  I have a couple River Leaf Models town buildings, but Andre closed his business a couple years ago.  If you find and for resell, they are nice rather easy laser cut kits.

Regarding building kits I’d recommend Korber. Or if you just want some prebuilt buildings that you can customize by painting and adding detail parts I like the Atlas ones that they acquired from Walthers.
