Power master and boost button

For Legacy operation, doesn't the CMD/CONV switch need to be in "CMD"? The boost button would not be needed. If left in conventional, just use the knob to turn up the track voltage, if you use "boost", it will just return to the lower setting when you let go of that button.

NO does not need to be in command, but can do as you say, just scroll up power with throttle knob.  G

Boost only works to power up to full power in cmd mode.  If in conv, boost momentarily increases power until you release it.  Once released, the power will return to the level set with the knob.  In conv mode to get full power, press Aux1, 9.  There is a switch on the powermaster to set it to command (cmd) or conventional (conv).

I believe when you put the switch in command mode when you turn on the power it automaticly goes to 18 volts ,where as in conventional mode you have dial up for track power .

You say Lionel was no help. I guess not. You don't explain the situation very well.

We are assuming your power masters are Legacy power masters? Those operate like the TPC's. 

In conventional mode, press Aux 1, 8 and you get 30% power to the track and press Aug 1, 9 and you get 100% power. 

In command mode, press Aux 1 and boost for full power. In either mode, pressing 0 (zero) and you can remotely turn off the power to the track.

Why Lionel stopped producing the TPC is a question? One of the best products made by Lou Kovach and enhanced by Lionel. You can use a cab-1 or a cab-2 to operate them.

Ted is the winner.  The manual never said anything about using the Aux 1 button before hitting the boost.

I also like the Aux 8 and Aux 0 on the conventional track.

I will keep the Power Master I purchased since everything is working.

Anyone interested in buying 2 TPC 400's ?
