I have noticed that there seems to be a difference in performance between the pre and post war Marx single reduction motors. The pre war motor just seems more "robust" to me for some reason. Hard to put a fine point on it, but....Anyone else note this? Or....I could just be delusional as my wife says!

but I've never seen any difference. Let's see what others say.
I do not think pre war, post war is it. I have some from each era that run "normal" and a few that are just extra smooth. Had one or two dogs also. A few "like new" sets I've picked up were like new because the motors were almost unrunnable.
