I'm sure some one will have some smart a**ed comments about this post..... and how much I spent and how I screwed the train shop owner for participating in the auction, etc
Hey, if you hadn't bought them, someone else would have. There's no reason for anyone to grumble.
JD and Mike, I thought they were giving the williams stuff away. Those girls gg1 pass sets list for 600, were going for 100, to bad there a hard sell
I was SURPRISED at how much the K-Line stuff went for
Mike, sorry on the Rail King, I ran em up and won most of it.......... I still feel, even after buyers premium, I came in lower than whole sale.
The MTH Premiere went reasonable
I wish I had more money for this one, but the wife wants new furniture for Christmas and after she saw what I spent, I HAVE TO BUY HER New furniture this year....... And she said I have to re paint the whole down stairs......****it..................
I agree with you, Ryan, about the Williams stuff. I was real tempted on a couple of lots where I didn't even want the road name or engine, what-have-you, but the price was so low I almost said "what the hey..."
But I've been trying to be more conscious of not buying something I'm marginally interested in because the price is right. I have a small layout. I can only run so much at once. I only have so much space to store it all. (Even so....lol....it was hard to resist some of those lots!!!)
I DID see those Rail King freight lots. Great stuff, great prices. You did real well! The hundred plus freight cars...30 or 40 engines...you got an instant train collection in a couple of hours!!

Allen, exactly my thoughts. But you see it every day on here, I want the best price.... ohhh no my LHS went bankrupt
I will say though, he must have all ready either liquidated a lot, or hid a lot, or just plain had crappy inventory (I never delt with this shop in the past honestly until the sale, I never even heard of them ) there were a lot of mis matched lots nothing seemed matched. I will probably cosign 30% of what I bought to my LHS
Mike, prior to the sale I had close to 900 freight pass cars and well over 100 locos, got a load of wood at 7 am before the auction to start the new lay out!! busy day
Ryan,
If you decide to list what you would like to sell please post or pass along.
Thanks!

I don't know Marty nor anthing about his business, but my guess is that if the shop was having financial difficulties, it likely reached a point where Bachmann would no longer send him new merchandise. Thus, the Williams inventory in stock would be whatever was left over and was slow to sell.

As sacrilegious as a PINK GG1 passenger set might be to me, I probably would've pulled the trigger for one at that $100 price and learn to like or at least appreciate the novelty of the paint scheme.
We each probably have a number of thoughts as to how or why MA&PA got to this situation. However, it is still disappointing to see parts of Marty's former business auctioned off. I hope Marty (a true nice guy) finds happiness in whatever he decides to do next.
Keystone, I'm sure he will, sometimes we just need a "fresh Start" Rumor has it there was a divorce involved
I wish I had got one of those pink sets, as silly as it is for man to have such a thing, for 100.00 it has "novelty value". Definatly a question generator from non-train people.
