I have a feeling I know the answer already but I wanted to confirm. I have an old Legacy system I mean when they first came out old! My remote is fine and I have the latest upgraded Legacy version installed but my command base has been dropping the signal at times when I'm running.  Everything stops dead in its tracks and I have to play with the antenna or shut it all off and turn it back on to get a signal again.    I'm thinking my command base may be on it's way out.   Question.  If I just buy the 1-L Legacy base that could serve as my new replacement command base without buying another remote and all yes?   I have recently replaced my DCS TIU and it has made a huge difference in my signal proformance but I bought that about the same time as my Legacy unit.

No, the BASE1L does not work with the CAB2.  However, the CAB1L works with the Legacy command base.

I kind of  thought that might be the case. Not sure what the life expectancy of a base unit might be?

On our Midwest Division of TCA Modular Group layout we experienced similar issues, plus more up at Trainfest. We talked to the guys at Lionel, they took it, sent it in for repair, and we received it back in 3 weeks. $0 cost.  Works great now. Just in time for Operation North Pole.

So yeah, Send it in to Lionel. it's Covered under Warranty.
