Question about clearance on Lionel Coaling Station.

Hey Everyone,

I have a kit of the Lionel coaling station I build MANY years ago. Last night I realized that a Husky Stack (Double container stack) rolling stock car will not clear the pass through.

I was wondering if anyone has the pre-built Lionel coaling station #: 6-16874 and if the clearance is different then the old kit?

I have the pre-built coaling station. I'm pretty sure they are the same. I can't take my depressed center flat w/ transformer load through it. I don't have any Husky stacks to test.

I'll get a clearance measurement for you and post back soon.

What about taking the base off and placing the rest on some raised ground on each side of the track?

The pass through clearance is only 5-1/4".
If you are using FasTrack then it goes down to 4-1/8" from the top of the rail.
