I recently put ps-2 in a Williams Brass scale N&W J, but I'm having a problem with the chuff rate. I measured the flywheel and used the correct stripes from the kit, but I can't get four chuffs per rev. I figure this has to do with gear ratios. I can get 3 or 5, but not 4. Could this be changed by altering the flywheel stripes? If so, what kind of alteration should be made? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Before worrying about chuff rate place it on layout and set scale speed around 10.  Run a MTH Production engine on same loop at 10 SMPH and see if J is slower or faster.  Do test around 35 and make sure same difference.  If I remember right the Wil Brass J is geared around 40 to 1 which means it will run slower.

So if that is the case you can use the larger fly wheel tape which will put less stripes on the flywheel and trick the processor into thinking the motor is too slow for a set speed and therefor send more voltage to motor to speed it up.  G
