I am new to the TPC style of control.  I am hooking a TPC 300 up to a completely isolated section of track for repairs, etc.  I would like to ability to switch back and forth from command to conventional depending on the repair needs.  I have it temporarily hooked up to the test section with a Legacy remote and a 135 Watt Powerhouse.

I have the TPC programmed as TR 2 and I can get it to respond in command mode by addressing TR 2 and pressing the L and SET buttons.  The BOOST then gives me the maximum voltage (around 19 volts).

The problem is when I try to set it to conventional mode by addressing TR 2 and pressing the M and SET buttons.  Holding the BOOST or turning the red wheel does not provided any voltage to the track.

I have tried numerous times and even watched Mike R.'s instructional video, but, .... NOTHING.

Could the TPC 300 be bad?  Any help would be appreciated.  I run a LEGACY layout with six 180-watt Powerhouses and a ZW-L transformer so I am pretty sure it is all hooked up correctly.

Thanks,

Dennis

@dennish - Similar to you, I have a TPC 400 and I can switch between 'Command' and 'Conventional' simply by pressing - as you noted - the 'L' or 'M' buttons on my CAB1-L remote, followed by pressing the Set button.  After reading your Post the one thing you didn't indicate that I was wondering about was whether the 'light' on your TPC 300 flashes continuously when in Command mode, but only starts to come on when you begin turning the red knob on your remote which signifies it's in Conventional mode?  That might be an indicator as to whether your TPC 300 is faulty or not, but other Forumites with much more technical knowledge than I may chime in and have other thoughts on this matter. Good luck in resolving the problem!

Dennis - Any luck when you tried re-programming your TPC as an ENGine?  I'm curious because your Post prompted me to pull out and carefully re-read the Owner's Manual for my TPC 400 and, other than noting Mellow Hudson Mike's recommendation that the TPC could be assigned either a TRain or ENGine number (which I had forgotten), your description of what you did is right on point.

I just tried programming it as a engine.  Again, the same issue - it responds in command but I can get NO voltage to the track in conventional mode.  Seems odd that it would work in command but not in conventional.  I would suspect it would be the other way around.  I am holding out hope that I am doing something wrong and the TPC is not defective.
