Hi everyone, after finding out that my legacy sd70ace is causing signal interference to all of my MTH locomotives I have one question before I begin the process of installing a r/f choke in the engine. My sd70ace (being on of there newer models) uses the Lion Drive system and I need to install the r/f choke on the wire going from the pick up roller to the circuit board. This is where I have my question. The lion drive system uses a molex connector to connect all of the wires from the wheels to the circuit board so there is no single wire that I can see that goes from the roller to the circuit board. Does anybody know what wire on the molex connector would be the pick up roller wire?

Thanks,

Nick

Lets go back to 2002 or 2003 when dcs. first came out, I had a Lionel 2-8-0 UP (without cruise) that destroyed the dcs signal..... You could put a proto-2 engine in test mode with a perfect signal and bring theTMCC engine into the block and watch the dcs signal drop off as the engine got close to the proto-2.

The fix...  I had read that Atlas"O" locomatic command system required a choke in all the lighted pass cars,so...  I contacted Atlas and Jim Weaver sent me 4 of their chokes(free) and I installed one in the engine (board in engine with r2lc) in series between the rollers and circuit board. Guess what.. it didn't work.. However it did work on the ground side. Finding all the commons was a little difficult  but worth the effort.

I could park the TMCC engine next to the proto-2 with no dcs signal loss. The tender didn't require any modification.

Try it on the common side rather than the hot. The TMCC signal is on the outside rail maybe that's the difference.
