I'm considering adding Legacy to my MTH layout. I built it for a museum and the target year is 1939. MTH crew chatter is fine, but were railroads using two way radio dispatch in the late 30s?

No. No such thing as radios in the late 1930s or early 1940s. The PRR did have their "Train Phone" system, but I believe that was started until the early/mid 1940s.
That said, the term "Radio Dispatch" is NOT a term used in the U.S. railroad industry, Railroads refer to the "Dispatcher" during radio conversations. The term "Radio Dispatch" is more commonly used in the taxi cab industry.
The Legacy crew talk only comes up if you trigger it with the appropriate keys on the Cab-2 controller. So you don't need to worry about the 'radio' dialogue coming up on its own.
Thanks. That's what I thought. I'll stick with DCS. Not only do museum visitors see 1939 on the layout (located inside a restored period Southern baggage car), they HEAR it through a period radio on the platform via a CD I made condensing a full days' broadcasting from a Washington D.C. station in 1939.
