A group of us are getting together this weekend to go railfanning on the IHMD railroad. I had heard that a Northern Pacific challenger would be assigned to the one of the daily Northern Pacific trains, so I was hoping to shoot some video of the beast before it meets the scrappers torch.

So, we loaded up into our cars with beer, camera, and film, and headed off to Cooters Corners to rent a couple of cabins for the weekend. We intend to work out of there as our home base for the weekend, and head home on Sunday.

Mark and I saw a Northern Pacific Z-8 go through Cooters while we were loading up our camera gear for the day, and we went chasing it. It turns out we were able to shoot a few other trains also.

Here is the Z-8 going through Trow Bridge, with Dunder Mifflin paper company in the background. We also got video of a Northern Pacific local with two brand new GP9s on the point, as well as a DM&IR ore train heading down to the docks.

From there, we went to Sasquatch to have lunch and wait for the Z-8 to come thru town. First we saw a fast freight go thru with a Northern Pacific A-5 northern drift through town.

Then the Z-8 went through after waiting in the hole for the fast freight.\

We should be able to shoot a few other trains this weekend if we are not to hung over from tonight's festivities.

Hi Rick:

It took us from 9:00AM to 6:00PM on Thursday, and about two hours of fixing a couple of electrical issues on Friday. Trains were running by 10:00 AM Friday, and we did our best to run the wheels off of our stuff all weekend.

Just got home from the show, we quit running at 5:00PM, and had everything packed up and were out of there by 7:30PM.

Regards,
Jerry
