Gentle Forum Members,
Two current members and one former member of the Railroad Museum of Long Island (RMLI) are forming a new toy train club on Long Island’s East End. Although these three gentlemen were part of the RMLI collector’s train car program from 2005 to 2011, and their new car order form closely resembles our existing RMLI order form, they are no longer part of the RMLI car committee. They do not represent the RMLI in any manner and purchases of their inaugural Lionel collector’s train car will not support the RMLI in any way.
I am sorry if actions on the part of these three gentlemen have been confusing to our RMLI members or any of our friends in the toy train community.
I am pleased to report that the RMLI collector’s train car program remains alive and well. A new committee has been formed and I am honored to introduce its members to you. They are: George Wybenga, (TCA 02-55363) artist; James Werner, secretary and IT development; Steve Sucic, (TTOS 15191) shipping and rendering; Al Schick, (TCA 02-54904) treasurer; Don Hawkins, member-at-large; Dennis DeAngelis (Long Island HOTrack) and Don Fisher, (TCA 08-63024) Co-Chairmen.
The committee’s goal is to produce two collectible train cars each year to forward the program, encourage Museum membership and create sustaining funds for the Museum and its mission. We plan to deliver a car in the spring and another car just before Christmas each year.
The J.P. Holland Submarine Car, (Lionel SKU 6-52595), is RMLI’s spring car offering for 2012. The cars have shipped from China and are on schedule to be delivered in March or April.
For the 2012 holidays we are pleased to offer a Lionel Pullman Standard PS-2 covered hopper to haul your flour to the nearest Wonder Bread factory! This “O” scale car, (Lionel SKU 6-58521), features nationally recognized Wonder Bread livery and outstanding detail with die-cast metal trucks and couplers.
This car is the twelfth in our series of Lionel commemorative cars and it will be extremely limited to only those who purchase the car in advance. Please visit our website: www.rmli.org to download an order form. Orders must be received by Friday, June 15, 2012. Funds raised from the sale of these cars go toward the operation of the Railroad Museum of Long Island, including education/restoration programs, exhibits, collections and the Historic Lionel Layout.
The RMLI collector’s train car committee looks forward to your continued support as we create beautiful, quality Lionel toy train cars for our members and our toy train community.
Thank you,
Don Fisher, President RMLI
