Good luck in your retirement Walter. Going to miss the RMT line, was looking forward to getting a boxcab but such is life.

I have quite a few RMT products-Beefs, Beeps, Bangs, a Buddy, ore cars and flatcars. I'm looking forward someday to running them on my as yet to be built O-27 pike.
Thank you, Walter.
Wishing you and yours all the best.
I just bought some Beefs. Should I still send in my warranty cards?
Congratulations, Walter! We will miss the great trains from RMT, but I hope we will hear from you often here on the Forum!
I'll also appreciated the RMT products. There are still those of us who are traditional 027, non-command operators... the BANG S-4 and RDC Buddy get top ratings in my book. And I appreciate that RMT made some road names in traditional products that have yet to be done by any other company... the BNSF swoosh logo covered hopper comes to mind.
I suspect if this business was that EASY, Walter would continue. It's not easy. I've been told the vendors in China expect payment in full before any product is shipped to the US. That's a lot of money for any company - even a big company - to risk for inventory that may or may not sell immediately. And unlike Lionel or even Menards, RMT was not a big company.
The truth of the matter is that 3-rail was never the biggest part of the train hobby market. And it's not getting bigger. If the products were selling quickly, there'd be more companies stepping up to the plate to grab their piece of the pie, not fewer companies. In addition, the train companies today are not just competing with each other, but they're competing with all the past production on the secondary market. You don't have to be particularly brilliant to see there's still a glut of product on the market today.
Thanks Walter for holding out as long as you did. I've heard you have your own layout. Love and money don't always mix well. so now take the time to enjoy what it was that probably motivated you to start RMT.
67 seems awfully young to be thinking of retirement.

Happy Retirement Walter
It was a pleasure talking with you today.
All The Best To You

A few years ago, when I first got into the hobby, I was looking for an older model Beep. I sent an email to RMT asking about availability of the item. I do not think ten minutes went by and I was told Walter is on the phone. I thought, how is that for costumer support. He told me he was sold out but I may find old stock. A pleasure to talk to.
Enjoy retirement Walter!

Walter i wish you the best on your retirement!!

Good question, Boy it would sure be a good product line for Menards to pick up.
Walter and RMT will be missed. Sorry to see him go.
Best of luck Walter. Can I ask if there are any interested parties that might buy RMT?
Walt,
Before you retire, I think RMT needs to make 1 more locomotive - a G1. That's right, not a GG-1, but a G1!
You gotta admit, it fits the profile, doesn't it?
Seriously, best wishes for a long and happy retirement!

George that is pretty funny because Walter did share with me a couple of years ago that very idea with those same pictures.
Congratulations Walter Sorry I didn't have more time to talk at Trainstock

Well, great minds do think alike!

I too have been patiently waiting on the Box Cab. Maybe time to start looking for 520's to customize.
Sorry to see you go. Good luck on your retirement.
Well, most of us seem to agree. Walter did one heck of a great job while he could. We will ALL miss you and RMT, Walter.
I had a nice layout thanks to you and your RMT K-Line Track and switches.
All the very best to you.
Congratulations, well deserved.
Congrats Walter. Enjoy your retirement
If you get to Arizona we can run some CNJ Trains like we did back in the day on the CNJ
All the best to Susie and Walter!! Take a cruise. Susie had the patience of a saint going back to their silkscreen merchandise days in the Yellow Hall.
Best of Luck Walter - Funny I had just ordered a Beef set and ran it today with a friend of mine. While running I mentioned that I had noticed Walt was still using the photo he took of his beep on my module at a train show in Ft Washington years ago. And hey, here is that photo again :-)
There was a guy at the Train Show who would photo shop you in as the engineer....
P.S. So long and thanks for all the Beeps.

Appreciate all the nice comments on OGR Forum and also in private emails to RMT.
Trying to get the hundreds of orders processed that came in after my retirement notice was posted. The warehouse shipping staff will continue into March to get all orders out. And RMT website will remain 'live' too.
Still some neat RMT stuff left including 100+ warehouse finds as I move boxes in warehouse. Am posting them to RMT website as fast as possible. Many are only 1-of-a-kind stuff from years ago!
Thanks again for your support.
