Remote Control of Couplers

Can somebody please help me What is exactly a remote control couplers? Is it similar to the thumb tack coupler? Can these cars (freight or Passenger Cars) run on any track beside tubular?

All operating couplers, regardless of design, can be uncoupled "remotely" on a remote control track.

Command controlled couplers can be uncoupled anywhere on the layout using the hand-held remote unit. The layout has to be set up to run the trains on Command Control.

All '0' (and '027') gauge trains can run on any type of track. Scale length trains just need wider radius curves.
