I need to glue some passenger car nameplates. Metal to metal I was going to use CA, but perhaps there is something better with more precise control.
Any suggestions?

Crazy Glue A little drop. But be careful where some gloves.

If you can, stay away from the runny stuff. There are different viscosity's of CA. I found it easier to use just the two thickest types. I hope this helps.
I use JB Weld.
I would use a clear silicone rtv. sticky to set and easy to remove if you need to.

Marker on Golden Gate Depot cars I, used super glue and used the setting spray. If a mistake is made use a plastic piece to knock the plate off side ways to the car. Even with the good quality super glue I used - the plate come off with no damage.
I've tried CA various viscosities, and get great results using JB Weld.
I need to try JB Kwik, silicone rtv, and the setting spray with super glue. I'm sure these are all good choices for future work.

For hobby use, JB Kwik is just as good as JB Weld. I am with Hot.
