My son just received his new RMLI Lionel USS Holland submarine and it is a beauty.  The best submarine car Lionel has made to date.  The beautiful translucent flat car is nothing less than stunning, especially with the sun light shinning through.  A prize display piece for sure.  Coin in front of submarine is for the Thresher class nuclear submarine I was stationed on, the USS GUARDFISH (SSN-612) built at NY Naval Shipyard.

Thank you gentlemen,

Kudos and thanks for the unique translucent blue flatcar design goes to RMLI member and past Trustee, Bob Mintz  TCA 92-35064.  As a member of our collectible car committee, it was Bob's talent to design the livery on our first eleven cars.

Thank you for your support of the Railroad Museum of Long Island!

My photo's don't do the blue color of the flat car justice.  I did the best I could with the sun out (a miracle here in soggy Oregon) shinning through the translucent blue.  It's even more spectacular than in my photo's.  The graphics on the submarine are crisp and clear.  The box is also a work of art, the best looking Lionel box I have ever seen.  A job well done.  Anchors Aweigh!

Thanks Tex,

Our Car Committee has felt the added pizzaz of a unique box increases the value of the overall car for our friends and collectors.  These have made some of our cars highly sought after.  We will continue to work with Lionel in the future to, from time to time, create interesting boxes to go along with a special car.

I'd also like to recognize a few folks at Lionel who take up our concepts and nurture them, (and us), through the creative process to the beautiful cars Lionel builds for the RMLI.  A Tip O' the Hat to Gary and Karen at Lionel L.L.C. for all their hard work with the many Collectible Cars they usher from the factory.  They're the best!

Hi Tex, she's a good looking boat and the translucent car has a unique  color that compliments the black sub perfectly.

I think your right on, it is probably the best looking Sub Car Lionel has ever produced.

Even the box is perfect for the car, someone should be very proud for designing her.

Oh yea, I had to take a couple of days to make up my mind about it. When something is this striking you tend to over react to it. So I actually came back to this thread four or five times before I committed to the above statement.

Good luck with your car.
