I am finishing my power drops.  I have both DCS and Lionel Legacy in boxes.  I know you can run the TIU into Legacy base and out to the common rail.  You can use either remote to run MTH or Lionel.  Here is the question:

Can I run the AIU's with DCS and run the ASC2 with the legacy?  If yes, am I running them parallel to the switches or devices?  I just like the idea of running 2 complete systems with the modules that are available to each of the control systems.

Bryant,

To expand a bit on John's statement:

  • You can operate switch tracks from both the both the Cab-2 and the DCS Remote.
  • You can also operate any accessories that activate momentarily from both the Cab-2 and the DCS Remote.
  • If the Lionel devices work as do the MTH AIU, by holding a double-throw relay closed on one side, you can only operate non-momentary accessories from both devices as long as you use both to turn the accessory on or off simultaneously. Unfortunately, this defeats the flexibility that I believe that you're seeking.

From a cost perspective, the AIU is less expensive per device controlled than is its Lionel counterpart. On the other hand, however, the Lionel devices typically require less wiring.

If it was me, I'd choose to operate all of my switch tracks and accessories only with whichever device I most often find in my hand.
