Some nice work here. You Three Railers have fun you treat Model Railroads how it should be treated.... not to serious. I think I should have been a three rail guy. I have a Kalmbach book (1998) by Art Curren who shows how to change this station into other buildings.

Thanks for posting. Roo.

Roo, this book sounds like a winner. Please post the book's title, ISBN number. and cost. Hopefully it's currently available for ordering. Thanks

Funny, I thought this thread was dead.  Thanks for the nice comments.  I really like both Pete's and Andy's kit  bashed stations.

I attached a few close up pictures of my station, the back side has really poor lighting.  I really like it and I wish I was the one who painted it.  The roof has a cool fade in it also and it  came with all the details you see on it (both the posters and people/tools) less than $50, what a great deal!  I picked it up a York almost 20 years ago under the bleachers in the same building where MTH use to be.    I think there is only one painted color ( I am not sure what it is, almost a dark cranberry), and the grey I believe to be the standard plastic color.

I consider myself pretty young in this hobby and it is hard to believe that i bought that almost 20 years ago just few years out of high school.  Time flies.IMG_2302IMG_2304IMG_2305IMG_2308

Gee, Otto Mears, my most revered railroad man, should be proud that a station on his obscure and defunct Silverton to Ouray or Bust! railroad, the Rio Grande Southern, is so widely admired.  Mention of making a restaurant of one calls to mind one in the repurposed stations at Colorado Springs, Ft. Collins, and the thread running on trolley restaurants.  I'd guess there were enough station restaurants around the country to support a thread on that subject.

Have started working on my own version of the Rico Station, and was searching for help on weathering the roof / shingles.  Searched and found this thread, and really like the work you guys have done.   I have tried an India ink wash to highlight the shingles, but it does not show details as much as I would like.   Looks like a lighter gray was used to hi-light the shingles?    Any help greatly appreciated.
