Thanks to all who helped answer my questions.

I just wanted to add that when I attempt to run the engine the cab light blinks 3 times without my doing anything with the remote other than to start up the engine. That is; there are 3 blinking cab lights without me, using the remote, to turn on the smoke. The engine responds to all other commands.

RickO...I plan to us a feeler gauge to measure that distance. Thanks for your advice on that matter.

Try turning OFF the smoke with the remote. The engine remembers the previous state, and if it was commanded on before, it'll startup on.
