I have a New Haven Alco PA ABA, 6-14596.

The smoke resistor on the powered A Unit is always on in TMCC mode. The only way to turn it off is to turn the the smoke on off switch to off. Using AUX 1 #8  turns the fan off but the resistor is still hot. The smoke unit in the non powered A Unit works properly in TMCC mode.

I have done a reset of the R2LC. No help.

The R2LC is C11.

How do I fix this?

Simplified, a triac is like a transistor, an electronic switch/relay.  A triac is an AC version.

Figuring that placement out alone shows an aptitude for logical thought though. You should explore deeper into electronics more often imo. E.g., what sends the signal to activate the triac?  (might be a proprietary or unmarked, but that is the next step for e.g..)
