Yep Mike, Roger's bare nekid tracks---no rail weathering;i.e, no rail rust nor ballast.

Up til now I have cut him some slack for naked tracks[well, a little anyway]. First, he was working and going to college and then adapting to a new job. But, most of all during all that period he was simeltaneously working to organize and herd the "cats" of our new Piedmont Triad [module] O-gauge Club.

So, he was due some slack. But now he is back, as he puts it, to "create" new diesels[aka, new "dismals"]. You will however note that he bought a new steam engine which he is using as "wallpaper", hoping to lend a touch of credibility to his Yard[nice Yard] full of stinking dismals.

Time to "take up the slack" again.

My New Southern Williams Operating Box Car.  I was quite impressed with this car when I received it.  Much nicer than I thought it would be.  Can be operated by the Williams remote or uncoupling track.  Can't be operated with the K-line remote.

Although I like mostly all roadnames, I absolutely love the colorful MTH PS3 engine I just got a few months ago.  Out of the box and on the track, it crept along at 1 mph!  I noticed the new PS3 features, such as the dimming LED headlight when it's not moving, the firebox pulsating glow when it's running, and the cab light being doused when it takes off.  The whistle is excellent, and the overall sound is fairly hefty for an MTH engine.  Plenty of smoke, I'd give the cab chatter its usual D-, (PLEASE get rid of the train wreck sound and use that space for something useful, like maybe a long blowdown) but the chuffs are nice and throaty, and it is a beautiful engine.  Congrats to MTH for a well detailed, smooth running engine.

Pretty pair of Aces at Salisbury's Station west of Spencer:

Southern Mountain Type #1480 with the Carolina Special ready to swing off northwest to Asheville. Alongside is Southern Ps-4 #1396 minus its Crescent Ltd markings and headed south for Charlotte, Greenville, Atlanta and New Orleans.

Here's our Southern E6 motive power on the layout at our home last year.

MTH on the left while the Tuxedo No 2800 was custom painted from a Lionel Burlington E unit.

The Southern Coach is an early MTH prototype that I lettered for New Orleans. The other cars in the set have names of towns back in Louisiana where I used to live.

Hi SEAN

Thanks for the offer..

I am planning to make a list when able to physically do so. I know quite a lot from memory but need to check numbers. I don't have a clue on pricing so homework is ahead. My engines never ran smoke-ever. I haven't decided how to dispose of the units yet. But it necessarily will be expedited as recommended by my MDs.

The first units I plan to unload are 8 articulated stump pullers that I collected in dumb, weak moments and never ran. Most are still in the box or displayed dusty on railrax shelves. The exception is that I often ran the MTH diecast Challenger [TMCC by T/A]. I bought it from Mike in 1994 and ran it with 30 Hoppers on the Mountain House hi-line at least 40 hours over time.

The others with TMCC/RS are

B&O EM1, C&0 H-8, "Early" CC&O Challenger by 3Rd Rail, two N&W Y6-bs, one Lionel, one MTH [TMCC], N&W "A" and a Lionel N&W Y3 decorated by J. Sohn as SRR Ls-2 4050.

It pains me but along with all the rest I plan to sell a Weaver SRR Ps-4 "Tennessean"[TMCC/R/S by T/A]. It has a short crack in the rear curve of the cab roof from a knee high fall w/out Tender to padded carpet. No distortion in the roof or other damage. I continued to operate it for two years. It requires epoxy and flat black roof paint. It has the Limited Edition Certificate.

As you probably already know, I have another Weaver Ps-4 new in the box that I paid way too much for and had the Weaver Tech install TMCC. Not for sale, I couldn't stand the loss

Representing one of Piedmont Triad Club President Roger's favorite stinker sets sitting on the bar in Banner Elk at our mountain cottage[my 14x32 Elk River Railroad is long since dismantled-'08].

Some Pennsylvania Ry F units I bought dirt cheap from Trainworld and had repainted and decorated by Jeff Sohn as the NS Executive Train's power.  There is a second B unit somewhere in my stuff?

No photos Sam until a Spencer Shops visit.......but Henderson Scott, 84, of Hawfields, NC has donated one of his restored Divco Milk Trucks to the Transportation Museum at Spencer......he has restored four.

At the same time a horse drawn Milk Wagon was donated, the Milk Wagons were still used in many towns during WWII when gasoline and tires were rationed.

The Truck and Wagon are now on display at Spencer along with a 2,000 milk bottle collection and other historic items. Cookies and ...yep milk, were served for the event.

These Atlas F2s certainly are pretty - Thanks for posting the photos!

D500 - Do you have some Tuxedo Atlas Southerns F units?  Did Atlas make them? If so would appreciate some photos as I've never seen them.

Sam

looking on the Atlas O website they only did the GM&O F2/3 A units. So you might have to track down a single MTH B units if they did one for the GM&O.

Most of my locomotive are in storage since I'm in the process of looking for a big home that can house my collection.

Brother Love your caboose model are the best in the business the P&N Caboose you did for me is the best model I have in my collection!!

Definitely a Southern Thing........Scale 54" Cotton Bale and 48" Indigo Denim Roll.

Items needed to add some detail to my very compressed Corner Denim Weaving Mill. Raw cotton from West Texas, 501 Denim from Greensboro's White Oak Mill.

Corner space initially left open for access but lack of space drove me to occupy it with the help of Model Structures for Model Railroads. Unfinished project, unfinished layout, waiting on me to physically get up and running again.

Sam,

Did you notice how dark the original Alton/G,M&O maroon is? So even if the MTH B is a different color you are OK!!

When I found out Mullet River caboose kits was offering a CB&Q/C&S sidedoor caboose

kit, I checked it out, and then I discovered M.R. had a Southern Railway side door

caboose kit, also.  Have not seen a photo of the prototype, but it is M.R.'s #403033 and I just got in one of them along with the C&S version.  These are without trucks, which finding will be the fun part.  These are laser cut wood kits.
