It's #SwitcherSaturday time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

Did you miss last week? If so, take a peek here to check out the action! We had tons of posts, pictures, and videos, it really was a fantastic Switcher Saturday, very fun indeed!

My pictures this week are of my Lionel 6-18000 PRR 0-6-0 B6 Scale Steam Switcher circa ~1989.
Continuing on last week's theme of "Switcher with it's catalog picture/info", this scale switcher was featured in the Lionel 1989 "Toy Fair Edition" catalog (thanks Tom/MNCW for letting me know)!
Overall a fantastic locomotive, certainly one of my favorites, I can't believe I found it on Craigslist (a year or two ago, great price).  Hopefully you can read the text in the picture from the catalog, if not let me know and I'll type it in.

Happy Switcher Saturday! Here is my contribution for this week. Rich, you posted great shots of your 0-6-0 B6. I have the smaller 0-4-0 A5s doing a little street running. Our #713 seen here was built by the Juniata Locomotive Shop in 1917 and retired in January 1956.  How'd you like to be driving down the street alongside that!

Great picture Tom, I'd love to race my little VW against that A5 anytime.

MikeCT, Here is a screenshot from Lionel's website for the "new" B6, $699 MSRP is well beyond my budget, but I think I've seen some pictures and video of this these (different liveries) and they look impressive.

The fireman is hunched over trying to keep warm on the local run, using the Lionel Lines saddle-tanker to deliver a fresh load of footballs to Steeler Station to coincide with the 2016 NFL draft.  This delivery used to be made by The Bus, but he retired in style several years ago!P4304213

And a little coal shifting for you as well...

Tom,

Nice find, that is a neat picture.  I really like my TMCC K-Line A5, especially since I got it upgraded to 4 chuffs/rev.  I do wish Lionel could get a more scale sized tender behind it; it is way too large.

Yay! Happy SWSat!

Great shots so far guys. Really inspiring me to get one of those little Pennsy steamers.

This week I am suffering some severe lack of layout feelings. It has been 9 months since my little shelf switcher came down due to a move. My new one is progressing slower than I would like it to. So I am posting some pics of my old layout as well as some MTA subway GE switchers. RMT made a funny attempt at one of these and I have one.

Apologies to those who have seen these before.

Silver Lake - Very nice series of switchers!  I really like the 25th street station shot with switcher on the other side of the platform!   I always enjoy seeing work trains in the subways when in NYC.  Thanks for sharing!!

WOW!  This is a cool switcher by Lionel!!  I've never thought of checking Craigs List for trains, however, I will now!  Thanks Rich and happy SWSAT!!

Happy Switcher Saturday Everyone!!  First thing I do on Saturday mornings is check out this thread   As always fabulous photo of real life and model switchers.  I learn so much from this thread for sure.

As I was just outside of Patsburg yesterday sitting on an embankment next to the mainline of the Free State Junction Railway, I was able to shoot this video of a Baltimore and Annapolis SW9 pulling 5 gons of scrap with a B&A caboose bringing up the rear.   Also got some footage of a Western Maryland BL2 pulling a WM mail train.  Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Here goes a second round since the Switchers have lost steam.

The Virginia Central was a very short line that ran in Fredricksburg VA into the early 1980s. It connected  to the RF&P and was a standard gauge conversion of a narrow gauge railroad called the PF&P.  The side rodded center cab is now part of the VA Museum of Transportation in Roanoke. Unfortunately I think the little Plymouth is gone. imageimageimage

An Alco switcher lettered for the Fillmore & Western Railway. At Railfest 2016 in Fillmore, California today.  The F&W  is an excursion line in Ventura County running on the old SP Saugus-Santa Paula-Ventura branch line. F&W engines and rolling stock are also used for many railroad scenes in Hollywood productions.

imageCool. The arrows seem stuck to the image for some reason.

Judging from the Pyle light , lots of other lights and the big numberboards it looks like this one used to be an SP engine. The big radio hoop on the cab is a cool detail as well.

Picked up this original 8976 switcher a while back on a fairly low buy it now ($125).  Been wanting one for a long time, so I was happy to be able to pull the trigger immediately.100_3124

Then picked up this GMC (General Models Corp) switcher  as well for a less than $20.  I consider them both projects and with me the project pile is large unfortunately.  I'll get to them someday though.100_3126

Dennis,

Great bargains on both! What does the number plate on the front of the smokebox door show? Also, any number stamped under the tender?

 Tom

Thanks Tom!  The smokebox front has a nice clean 227 on it and the tender is a 2227B.  It's not in any kind of collector condition of course, but once I have the time to spend a little time on it, it should be a good runner and layout engine for sure.  It fits in nice with the 1662's and 203 that I also have.  I'd like to find one the prewar switchers with the Teledyne uncoupling in tact, either that or I may just modify one of the ones I have.
