It's #SwitcherSaturday time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

If you missed last week's SWSAT you should really go take a look, it was a ton of fun!

Happy Switcher Saturday everyone and Happy Easter.

Rich, it looks like the Easter Bunny is generating some good traffic on your railroad.

This week, I found a couple of Pennsylvania Railroad B6 locomotives, both from circa 1952-53. I believe both are seen operating in the Camden, NJ area.

Happy Easter! SWSAT is off to an eggciting start.

Here in the Cuyahoga Valley, a pre-holiday exchange of cars is happening at the CT&Valley's interchange track. Among the cars being delivered by the ABC SW1500 #1502 is a tanker of TIO2 which the CT&V will take to Sherwin-Williams in Cleveland.

Officials from the CT&V are watching this second car very carefully.

ABC 1502 is heading back with two cars for Firestone and a gondola that will travel all the way back to Barberton.

Happy SWSAT!

My model of New Haven Railroad EMD SW-1200 diesel-electric switcher 649 is shown below with New Haven NE-6 caboose C-707. Both models were made by Atlas O. The locomotive was offered in October 2002 for delivery in June 2003 at MSRP $369.95 with TMCC. The caboose was first offered in April 2003 for delivery in September 2003 at MSRP $69.95 and has been rerun several times.

New Haven Railroad 649 was one of twenty EMD SW1200 Diesel switchers delivered to the NHRR in 1956 as Class DEY-7 (Diesel-Electric Yard). It was powered by an EMD 567C two-cycle V-12 engine which produced 1200 horsepower at 800 RPM. New Haven’s SW-1200 locomotives had flexicoil trucks, developed 61,425 pounds tractive effort and were geared for 65 miles per hour. EMD produced 737 SW-1200 switchers for American railroads between 1954 and 1966.

I’ve posted pictures on Switcher Saturdays of almost all my Atlas O switcher models, although I do have two more (NYC and B&M) with different road numbers. Still have steam switchers and diesel road switchers for future subjects…

JACKIEJR, Nice looking prewar Pennsy switcher. What number is it?

Tom

Hey Tom   It is a 8976 . Really enjoyed your rebuild on your own switcher. It has inspired me to look into why my drive wheels don't turn freely by hand, yet runs well under power. I'm imagining it is gummed up with old grease? Hesitant to tear into it haphazardly as it was a high dollar purchase. Not a big priority at the moment. See Ya

If it runs well, I would leave it alone! Yes, it's possible that the (internal) gearbox has built up grease. Make sure that you put some grease on the external gears, if they don't have it already. What's the number on the smokebox door?

Hey there SWSAT friends!!  I love the photos and info ( and of course the Easter Bunny too! ) so far today.  Love those center cab electric switchers Bob .... WOW!!  One of them looks like the kind the B&O used in Baltimore to pull steam trains ( the city of Baltimore had a smoke abatement ordinance way back in the day of the steam loco ) from Camden Station under Howard Street and on to Rosedale, Md and vice - versa.

Today on the Free State Junction Railway we have the mighty Plymouth ( B&O ) maneuvering  the BIG HOOK as the HOOK unloads a drop end gondola of railroad freight car trucks.  We also have some photos of a B&O SW9 on the service track, a FM Trainmaster at the Patsburg Commuter Station and a 0-8-0 at the station.   Enjoy Easter for all those who celebrate the holiday!!

Have a fun and creative week!!!IMG_2608IMG_2610IMG_2608IMG_0220IMG_0228IMG_0227IMG_0230IMG_0235IMG_0257

TiO2 is Titanium Dioxide which is the whitening ingredient in paint.

Absolutely right! Oddly, it's also used in some food products. It was even used by Duncan Donuts until just a few years ago.

That tank car is new to my collection and a perfect load for an imaginary railroad that terminates in CLE.

Its not so imaginary, Thomas.

The Sherwin Williams Technology Center is on Canal Road behind Terminal Tower. The B&O actually went there at one time.

Your CT&V connects with the B&O under Harvard-Denison bridge. There was an interlocking and tower there at one time.  I'll have to look as I may have a picture of the tower.  In the mean time look at Google Maps.
