Photos taken at the Steaming Tender restaurant in Palmer, Massachusetts on April 28, 2018. The main line was that of the Boston & Albany Railroad which became a subsidiary of the New York Central in 1900. The station was built in 1884. Palmer was known as the “Town of Seven Railroads.” A track diamond is visible from the platform.

Happy Switcher Saturday everyone! 

My contribution is from "Across the Pond," since there is some big Royal event going on, according to my wife and every news station in the US. 

Here are a few pictures from Northern England of the Sand Hutton Light Railway, a narrow gauge line that served the estate of Sir Robert Walker. Originally started as a 15-inch line, it was later converted to 1ft 6in. Eventually, the line was expanded and served a brickworks and handled agricultural produce from the farms on the estate.

First, here is the area:

Here (below) is one of the the four (some say there were only 3) Hunslet locomotives along with the lone passenger coach seen in the 1920's-30's. The coach, which seated 30, had an observation platform and was considered oversized for a narrow gauge railway. Tea is now being served in the coach by Miss Batty, daughter of one of the engineers.

Sand Hutton engine shed, seen in 1927. 

All of the Hunslet locomotives were scrapped in 1932 when the line closed.

The city/territory I ran engines over daily (Fort Smith, AR) until recently (retired) had FOUR crossing diamonds that I can count off the cuff.

They're quite common. In a city such as Kansas City alone would be hundreds of crossing diamonds, I would think.

Perhaps I've misunderstood what you're saying.

I read the "eight diamonds" statement when we were at the Palmer, MA station. Perhaps it was incorrect. My apologies if so. Will try to corroborate.

Ah, perhaps at one time there was a crossing situation at that location that required 8 crossing diamonds. This would be the case if a double track main was crossed by two other double track mains.

In that case, it would indeed be sort of rare, I would think?

We shall never know!

OK....waaaaay to many diesels in this thread.... The Wife and I were out today looking at a new/old pick up for me, so I didn't get any shots from the layout, but there is always the archives....

Here's some fresh photos of switchers on the FSJR working the Mountain Division with a pulpwood trains and the mainline with a coal drag.  Have a wonderfully fun and creative weekend.  

Hey guys, great fun so far today, here's a picture of the RMR club layout at the museum, I'll be there tomorrow running those switchers, but I don't think I have a RPO car, next year I'll have to remedy that!
