It would be nice to meet others from this forum if you're going to be there on Friday 6/29 or Saturday. I may be part of a seminar presentation on Lionel of the 40's - postwar. Looking for company for dinner on the 29th or breakfast the next morning before the Train Marketplace.

Rhode Island is a most beautiful state and I know NETCA has been working hard to make this a terrific event. I will put together some ideas for people who want a true Rhode Island experience. Yes - Lobster Rolls are around every corner but there is so much more.
Just a couple of options include Newport, (25 minutes from Hotel), Federal Hill in Providence for the best Italian dining you can imagine (Try Pane Vino, Atwells Ave), a working shortline serving Quonset Business Park with a working 44 tonner (20 minutes from Hotel) Seaview Railroad and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
You can also stand on the platform in Kingston and watch Amtrak scream by at 135 MPH. Fastest stretch of railroad in the US is right here.
