It works...now to fine tune location

I love coal scatterers! In one corner of my layout I have one each including the 97, 397, 497, 456 ramp and rotary dumper. My grandkids do a great job of keeping the coal flying. I love it!

Lol.yes i noticed..i making a aluminium extension...with a end stop bottom hole and a removable service cover..3m double sided tape so don't hurt the value😀👍🚂
Ok, my willpower isnt that strong and someone is gonna do it sooner or later ; so I might as well cross my fingers and get whats likely old hat out of my system
Um...it's not Mcnear enough to the tracks yet ... ...ok, i'm dun
It is the best of the dedicated coal movers imo
I think the coal slide's ...downspout (?) ...deflector (?)...extension, is a good idea. I'd like to see what you come up with. That drop height might be high enough for Standard Gauge as is. Hard to say if a more plumb drop will bounce more or not though.

Yes...i think this work's great.but i need to raise base 3/4or a inch...some rectifier engine's and larger hopper cars are higher..and im making this a modular unit..NO damage to 97 unit..it will be attached w doulble sided tape.and a magnet pole arm w chain to a paper clip thru it..ps...it looses almost no coal😀👍

Ps..its FAR better to be " NEAR than FAR😜..I'm gunna use my virginian rectifier and a bunch of coal car's...im still working in my mind to have a bin under track for the few. Bottom hoppers i have...its gunna be like my ho quarry...it goes below grade..and comes back up😀
I use a small wire hook like the size of a Christmas ornament's hook, with a very tiny hook bent to snugly grab the top horizontal pivot bar that's just under the blade. An L is bent at the bottom to catch the plate at the gap between it and the lower pivot bar, and this holds my pants at half extension for more clearance.
I don't like um down, nor fully extended. This is a bit low, but it's at a tunnel portal, so ok by me. Just to the left of the horn you can see the add on hook as a silver vertical streak and the actual hooked bar is at the bright spot along the silver Horz. pivot bar.
The same rock is below, I just thought you might like the top pic too
I did very little here, did it "wrong" on purpose without any stacking that reinforces a natural layered look, vs flat planes I used for being so tight to the layout edge (right side)here; and then I painted like I was on fire too. The point was to show it doesn't take much skill or effort to get results with foam. I.e., I built a "foam lean-to/ plateau" and hacked at the foam with knives along the way to doing this paint job. Even that was piecemeal painting; the vertical needs another weather wash.... years later. Foam & acrylics can make for a cheap and easy "concrete" base. The platue "roof" and "head banger" just pull away too.
Nothing but paint was done for the concrete docks. Close to that simple... glue, match sticks, and construction paper for the building fronts. I pressed some brick into it with the knife used to cut the balcony (the box's side glued in place with toothpick rebar) It wouldn't take much effort to shake the cartoon look. Most of my time was spent watching the paint dry.
I.e. it should be at least this nice if you have a blind monkey paint it.

Adriatic posted:Wally Mart etc., has faux jewelry chain for cheap as well as acrylic caft paint for cheaper that even. It is great for turning foam into conrete or stone and weathering that washes off if you dont like it. I use a black base with grey next, then light grey highlights dry brushed, then a wash of dirty brushwater. Hmmm.. No attachmet tool... I'll post this and try again for a pic in a few min.
Yes..i do that too...but i have REAL STONE WITH ITS OWN DUST😜dish soap takes right off👍😀
