Things must be returning to normal in the supply chain, this is the first listing I've seen for the Legacy #990 that's a discount off the list price.

The tide has turned.
There is a brand new one on there right now for 245 buy now w/1.4 http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL...;hash=item3cc5e273ce
Good prices, but they reflect the "lack of warranty" you get when purchasing from an unauthorized retailer. I imagine if you had a problem and had to send it in and pay Lionel to fix it you'd eat up that $50 savings pretty fast.
Well, the Legacy controller is somewhat unique in that Lionel has been fixing them no questions asked for now.
I haven't paid much attention to the Legacy Controller since I have only one Legacy engine. How can you tell the newest version from previous versions? Has Lionel changed the part number?
Pete
They usaully say that one didnt but in the picture it had the 1.4 manual
Now Lionel needs to fill the gap with the 180 watt powerhouses (Bricks) . These are out of stock everywhere and for months now.. I have to say this hobby is going pretty strong out there.
