Yes, I would have it weathered. That is a particular skill I would like to learn. I have a Lionel consolidation that is weathered and I love how it looks. But for now, I'll keep it as is, except for maybe dulling down the side rods with neolube.
I should have kept my name down for one but I sold off all my NYC freight engines a few years ago. It looks awesome it would be nice to see one with some proper weathering. Anyone know if it has the movable reverse gear? That's a feature unique to 3rd Rail (in 3 rail anyway).
Well, that's just painful. No, I didn't get one. I have too much already. Plenty of Hudsons, Mohawks, Niagaras, an A-1 and A-2 Berk, even a home-bashed K-5 Pacific and an 0-8-8-0 humper.
However, I have a NYC "Mikado Gap".
@naresar posted:Norm, not sure exactly what you mean by movable reverse gear, but I got a semi close up while I was giving it a brief functionality test.
The see if the reverse gear moves you need to change direction.
The levers below will move forward or back depending on direction. Its a cool effect that few models replicate.

@naresar ….what color are the class lights? …..they appear to be amber on the sides?…..thanks!
Pat
They appear amber. And on my model fairly dim, fortunately. I don't like having the front markers lit all the time (thank you Legacy models for the on/off functionality) but in this case they are quite acceptable too me.
@harmonyards Dave is correct, the class lamps do appear to be amber.
@Norton I tried reversing direction but there was no change in the valve gear.
It doesn’t appear to have it but it’s still a stellar model. Wish I would have kept my name in for one!
