Hello everyone,

My wife and I have been cleaning out our attic, and we came across this ride on train with a huge circle of track. We bought this for our daughters 21 years ago, it was stored in the hardest part of the attic to get to. This will be given to my new born Nephew for him to enjoy when he's able to ride it. Anyone else ever have one of these for  their kids.

Thanks, Alex

Never saw anything like this Alex...but you did jar a memory...way back when I was 3 or 4 years old I had a red train engine that I was able to sit on and ride around the house...my feet provided the power....I would go from one room to the other...your photos brought back that memory...Congrats on the new born nephew...I am sure he will love this.....Hope all else is well.....

I had one too.  It was gunmetal grey with red trim and I scooted all around my grandmother's house on that thing.  She had linoleum floors and it was easy riding.  I had forgotten all about that little engine.  I'm glad I caught this post because it brought back a great memory.

I also have that Mighty Casey train. Its made by Remco.  I purchased it from a co-worker back in 1980 who was done with it - kids grown.  It came with two passenger cars and a gondola.  I'm sure there were originally more cars. Funny thing- right after I got I was driving down the street and out at the curb was a pile of track for it that I picked up.  I can easily set it up and go through two rooms with all the track I have for it.  Its stored under my layout waiting for the next grandchild to be old enough to ride it.

We had one similar to that for our Grandkids, some 15 to 18 years ago.  I also managed to pick up quite a bit of extra track, some was yellow like that on the photo but the rest was black.  There was a 90o crossing with it, too so we could lay out an extended figure 8.  The kids played with it for a while, but then lost interest.  Kinda typical of that whole family of kids.  Ultimately the battery went dead and we donated it to Volunteers of America.

Man!  If I had had one when I was a kid, I'd have been in 7th heaven!

Alex,

I bought something very similar for my Grandkids, it passed through several and then I got it back when they didn't have room. I sold it to a fellow train guy at work. I later got the urge to build a steam engine pedal car after seeing a Christmas ornament.  Of course when I was about half ay through it they became available commercially.  My 4th Grandson is seen here with the finished product.
